Not just mirror box info, but really fascinating video from Nova with Dr. Ramachandran.
The remapping that may occur when missing a limb.
Andrew Austin has some really interesting ideas on working with phantom pain, missing limbs, and mirror boxes.
Demonstration of the Mirror Box as designed and developed by V.S. Ramachandran. This is the concept I started with when developing the portable mirror box. You can make one at home with a piece of mirror and a cardboard box. It doesn’t have to be this sturdy or refined. You do need to make the illusion complete…I’ve seen people do this a various different angles, not just the right angle described.
Interesting talk about the brain by the man who developed the idea for mirror box work for phantom pain. Mirror boxes can help you fool your brain and create new brain patterns and have also been used to help people with injuries, focal dystonia, and stroke. He’s a good speaker and fun to listen too. Enjoy!
